Cillian Murphy: role research made me an atheist

Cillian Murphy28 days Later star (and the Scarecrow in Batman Begins, and Jackson Rippner in the thriller Red Eye) Cillian Murphy has revealed that working on new Danny Boyle film Sunshine has caused him to lose his last bit of faith that there is a God.  Cillian spent time with a number of scientists in preparation for his role in the film and said recently: “I was agnostic before this film. Now I’m very much an atheist.”

“Not just because I spent time with these guys – they just confirmed what I’d always suspected.”

“For me, the film ultimately is a battle between science and religion, or science instead of fundamentalism.” via toomanytribbles
