The problem really stems from the fact that there was a misunderstanding of what the relevance of the penis was in relation to ‘pen’, somewhat like the relevance of reed to read. Many knew a relative context existed, but like most religious people missed the analogy, took it literally and never really grasped the relationship between creativity of the penis with the creativity of the pen (especially in terms relating to the use of the Living Word, our dreams). Most of the prophets knew… most others didn’t get it, at least not clearly. (The value in dreams is found by describing them in WORDS, not in the images [ie. no graven images]).

Sacrificing of the foreskin is relevant to giving up some of our sex life to remember and put into words, our dreams, seeing we not infrequently wake up wanting sex, both males and females. If we don’t get our dreams written sooner than later (like after having sex) we forget some or all of the dream(s).

Incidentally, if you think about it, what group of 42 kids would stand and wait to be mauled by 2 bears (say mother and cub) (if it’s literal) unless a. the bears are an analogy for some armed intruders who by brandishing their weapons stopped all the kids from running, or b. the mother bear mauled one or a few of the group of 42 and they all were listed as being there so in retelling the story they embroidered it, or c. the 42 brats who yelled ‘baldy, go up (fly)’, decided they would also torment a mother bear and cub and that backfired on them. Or d. was the number of kids actually 4 (boys) + 2 (girls) as in 6 and in retelling/rewriting someone took liberties with the original words? 42 kids would be a huge number in a tiny agrarian community 2500 years ago, as Bethel was then. Bet el is only 5000 now and the population of Israel currently is more than 100 times larger than it was in Elisha’s time.
